Durians - (Set time: 12:00 AM)
Durians
This aggressive, bass-driven Dubstep/DnB trio got its name from the smelliest and spikiest fruit in the world, and their presence, power, and sound are as raw and unique as the fruit’s funky odor. Although the group uses recognizable elements from the newest DJ-dominated Electronic Dance Music genres, Durians never sticks to formulas. Wobbly bass lines are played from Nick Kirshnit's hybrid MIDI/Electric bass, which come out aggressive, dirty and compelling. Drum n' bass and jazz-infused dubstep beats are played by drummer Ryan Ramirez, which further add to the crucial "live" element. Melodies and sounds from Gnome Chalmsky are provided not just by synths and sounds produced by laptop, but by live trombone, keyboards, and unique original instruments, such as MIDI-Theremin. The group’s heavy sounds and energy have gained them a growing reputation in the Northeast EDM scene, where they have opened for such acts as Dub Trio, The Egg, Biodiesel, London Souls and more.

"...This is live-instrument electronic music on steroids, featuring dance-inducing break-beats and drum and bass amongst a psychedelic swirl of sonic delights." - Ed Dufresne, Montpelier Times Argus

"...booming synths, heavy drums and instrumentals reminiscent of alien screeches -- so bombastic that the floorboards shake." - Lauren Harrison, Newsday, Long Island
Zack Hagan & the Iona Crew - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
Zack Hagan & the Iona Crew
Brooklyn mainstay Zack Hagan is known for his eclectic approach to electronic music production and songwriting, with performances ranging from solo folktronic sets to live improvisational electronica w/ the trio ZXL, and garage rock w/ Motico. He has performed on the mainstage at Camp Bisco and internationally at the NXNE festival in Toronto and Caribbean Holidaze in Jamaica.

Hagan's sixth album since 2008, Dark Xmas, was released this fall, and he will unleash a new quartet to perform it at Spike Hill, with a band of music-makers gleaned from the bar stools at Williamsburg's Iona. Dave Arlington of FORTS on drums, Daniel Meredith on bass, and Mabis Chase on violin are the Iona Crew, backing Hagan on his original compositions and a series of unprecedented jams.

Technicolor Lenses - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Technicolor Lenses
Heightened hip-hop lyricism and freestyle over dynamic electronic beats, eclectic electric guitar, raw rhythms of wisdom, and a wide array of consciousness expanding phenomena, introducing the new paradigm of communication and music to the world at this very moment.

The Technicolor Lenses trifecta is the sonic creation of Jackson Whalan, Sam Eckstein and Brandon Lewis... combining original hip-h...op and MC-ing, electronic/dub-step, psychedelic rock, jam, funk, and spoken word, providing conscious social commentary on the current state of human existence. The live performance of Technicolor Lenses cultivates the high energy of a hip-hop or electronic set with a unique instrumental element.

“Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus.”-Ralph Waldo Emerson.

This young, new, Brooklyn-based band is emerging and sharing far and wide, with the intention is to raise vibrations and consciousness by creating a space of fun, togetherness, and celebration, driven by the vehicle called music.
